Pakoras can be made from nearly any vegetable be it, spinach, onions, cauliflowder, potatoes and even chillies by dipping them in the batter of besan (chickpea flour) and then deep-frying. This is a very delicious snacks. This simple pakora is prepared with paneer peices coated with besan flour, spice powders and deep fried to golden crisp.
Pakoras taste best when eaten hot. Chutney is the perfect accompaniment to this wonderful snack. This can be served as a tea time snack or as a starter.
There are several ways to make paneer pakora. Today I'm posting the method I used this time.
Ingredients
200 grams paneer
Salt to taste
1 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 cup gram flour
2 tbsp rice flour
Oil to fry
Chaat masala
Method
Cut the paneer into rectangle pieces. Slit them in between and spread out some chat masala powder in it. See to it that you cut the paneer in only three sides. You can spread mint chutney also instead of chat masala, it gives a different flavor. Today I did with chat masala. I shall post a pic of mint chutney paneer pakora version too.
Mix gram flour, rice flour, salt and red chilli powder with water to get a thick batter.
Dip the paneer pieces in this batter and fry them in hot oil till golden brown.
Drain excess oil on a tissue paper. Sprinkle some chaat masala powder on it and serve hot.
