Moong Dal Chila

Moong Dal Chila....Yummy! I relished Moong Dal Chilas made by my mom since childhood. I remember in north indian weddings, Moong Dal Chila corner was most crowded. Its an easy dish to make and yet very nutritious. Generally people don't like this dal but usually  they  enjoy in this form. If you, your stubborn kids or hubby ;-)) who are dead against this lentil, you may want to try this recipe once.

Ingredients:
To make chilas
Yellow moong dal - 1 cup
Green chillies finely chopped - 2
Salt - as required
Oil - for cooking

For the stuffing
Boiled potatoes - 1
Steamed green peas - 1 cup
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Green chillies (chopped)- 2
Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Salt - per taste
Paneer cubes- 1/2 cup
Raisins - 1 tablespoon
Cashews - 1 tablespoon
Dried mango powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Oil - 1 tbsp

Method:
Rinse and soak the moong dal properly for at least 3 hours. Grind the soaked dal along with green chillies.
Add salt in this paste.

Stuffing:
Cut the potatoes in small cubes.Heat oil in a pan and add the cumin seeds. When they pop add the remaining ingredients and cook for few mins.

Arranging Chilas
Add a little oil to the non stick tawa and heat lightly.  Take a little moong dal paste and spread on the tawa. Apply a little oil on the mixture and cook for a few seconds till the side gets little brown and turn over to fry the other side. Put some stuffing at the center and fold carefully like folding a dosa. Do the same with the remaining mixture.
Serve hot with tamarind chutney.

Pics are yet to come.
